RezDay #4

Once again it is time to celebrate the day Prudence was "born" in Second Life.  I admit, I am not feeling very celebratory this year.  The past year of my First Life has been so challenging, to say the least, that throwing a virtual party in SL feels more like a chore than a celebration. I no longer "live" in a region where an annual hurricane coincided with my RezDay.  While that was never a problem for me, it did limit my options for parties.  This year I have my own venue, The Lair, in Rosehaven, as well as a nice parcel next door.  I've considered hosting a party at The Lair, but I am leaning more toward a summer aquatic theme and have begun decorating my home parcel for a "swim" party. On Sunday, August 19, beginning at noon SLT, my friends are welcome to drop by to play in the water with me.    Mer and other aquatic avatars are encouraged, but not required. Swimwear should be appropriate for a moderate region.   I may present the m

July Howl for the Buck Moon

This month our Howl falls on the Full Moon which happens to be called the "Buck Moon".  Apparently, the month of July is when young deer develop their antlers.  Musically, I've got nothing for that theme... but some of my favorite antlered-folk are fond of Classical music so I'll present a set of Dark Ambient, Alternative and Classical music at The Lair in Rosehaven. The Howl events occur twice a day; first at noon SLT and again at 7:00 pm SLT, to accommodate our denizens in different time zones.  Both events are 90 minutes in length. Friday, July 27, from 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM and again 7:00 - 8:30 PM PDT and SLT, at The Lair, in Rosehaven (Second Life). Fantasy or Goth attire from any era is encouraged. When in doubt, wear Black! June Howl

This month, the Howl's musical theme will be Industrial Goth and "Witch House" , especially for Her Highness, Princess Selena. Witch House is considered a micro-genre of electronic music. It is described as "occult-inspired, dark electro... influenced by infused hip-hop sounds, mashed up and screwed beats, random industrial sounds, and irregular noises." Read more at Beat https://beat.media/what-is-witch-house . The Howl events occur twice a day; first at noon SLT and again at 7:00 pm SLT, to accommodate our denizens in different time zones.  Both events are 90 minutes in length. Friday, June 29, from 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM and again 7:00 - 8:30 PM PDT and SLT, at The Lair, in Rosehaven (Second Life). Fantasy or Goth attire from any era is encouraged. When in doubt, wear Black! Mexican Radio on Tres de Mayo

My first Mixcloud post

Last week I had the pleasure of playing an electronic dance set for my friend, Gabrielle Riel, to celebrate her 12th RezDay in Second Life. I mixed the entire set using cue points in RadioDJ , and had a lot of fun doing so! If you missed Gabi's party, you can still listen to my set on Mixcloud.

I made a mistake

It was bound to happen sometime; I made a scheduling mistake for the themed Howl events at The Lair. The full moon for April is named the Pink Moon, but we celebrated the Pink Moon Howl last month (by my mistake), so I'm just going to repeat the Pink Moon Howl this month and we'll get back on track. I will, however, play only the evening shift (to avoid conflict with Fantasy Faire events), and I'll change the playlist a bit to bring the length back down to one and a half hours. Friday, April 27, 2018 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm The Lair in Rosehaven Recommended attire: Goth or Fantasy from any era. This month's Howl is not happening.  Please, go enjoy the events and shopping at Fantasy Faire, and we'll Howl next month!

April Frivolous!

April 2018 brings a schedule change for my presentations at The Temple in Rosehaven: you will now find me there on the first Thursday of each month. Since this month's calendar is so silly (who celebrates April Fools' day on Easter Sunday?), I'm going to present a set of fun, silly songs that should make you smile. It's a Pajama Party! Wear your PJs or just dress comfy- casual. Thursday, April 5, 2018 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm Pacific Time and SLT at The Temple in Rosehaven (in Second Life)

Pink Moon Howl

The moon will be full on the 31st, but we're going to Howl on Friday, March 30, from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM and again 7:00 - 9:00 PM PDT and SLT, at The Lair, in Rosehaven (Second Life). Because this is the "Pink Moon", and in honor of Women's History Month, I will present two hours of dark, alternative pieces that are either composed by women or sung by female vocalists. Sim Rating: Moderate. No nudity, and no biting! Recommended attire: Goth or Fantasy, any era. The color "pink" is encouraged, but not required. The Lair will officially open to the public at noon, SLT on March 2, 2018, to celebrate the Worm Moon.  This venue is romantically gothic with a fairytale, lunar/lycanthrope theme. Dance to Dark Alternative music on scheduled Fridays around each Full Moon, or visit this scenic, forested estate anytime to enjoy the ambiance and take photos. The Lair is owned and operated by Prudence Jekyll.  It is located in Rosehaven, in the Sanctuary region. "Away to the sun...

no one's stopping me from lying around; there's surely something to it all." - Steve Hackett, Racing in A Friends and listeners, you've heard me present Racing in A , by Steve Hackett, in several sets over the past year.  What you didn't know is when I played that song I was nodding to a particular listener, a close friend of mine, (also named Steve), who loved Progressive Rock music. My friend, Steve, was one of those talented people who could play just about any instrument he picked up, but drums were his instrument of choice.  He played in several local bands, most of which you've probably never heard of.  He also produced an album or two. Steve was a long-time, family friend who was not in Second Life, but who listened to my broadcasts online and gave me feedback, usually by texting to my phone.  My Down-tempo set was originally a mix-tape I'd made just for Steve. Steve passed away last week, after a sudden illness and complications.  My husband

2018 has arrived

As much as I am happy to say goodbye to 2017, I am sad that my New Year has started off with a lingering flu virus and the news that a dear friend passed away yesterday. Iliana Cerese and I shared our love for the color, Purple, and for music.  Iliana's typist, Paxton, was one of very few people whose musical tastes were similar to mine.  Paxton used to call many of his female friends "Sis", but I really felt like we could have been related. My typist is only three years his senior, and we had many things in common.  My "Sis" won't be at The Temple for my show on Thursday night, though she would have loved it. I'll be doing a couple of fun things in her honor. Please join me for some  Lactose-free tunes about Cows, Cowboys, Cowgirls, Milk, and Ice Cream.   My pachyderm pal has the flu, but I've befriended a Purple Cow who consented to being "tipped", and she has some special treats for my donors.
