no one's stopping me from lying around; there's surely something to it all." - Steve Hackett, Racing in A
Friends and listeners, you've heard me present Racing in A, by Steve Hackett, in several sets over the past year. What you didn't know is when I played that song I was nodding to a particular listener, a close friend of mine, (also named Steve), who loved Progressive Rock music.
My friend, Steve, was one of those talented people who could play just about any instrument he picked up, but drums were his instrument of choice. He played in several local bands, most of which you've probably never heard of. He also produced an album or two.
Steve was a long-time, family friend who was not in Second Life, but who listened to my broadcasts online and gave me feedback, usually by texting to my phone. My Down-tempo set was originally a mix-tape I'd made just for Steve.
Steve passed away last week, after a sudden illness and complications. My husband and I are grieving the loss of our friend, and I am struggling to find a theme for my broadcast this Thursday.
I think my biggest fan would want me to go on with the show, so in his honor I will present another mix-tape I was making for him; of some contemporary Progressive Rock.
Please join me in Second Life, or tune in online to listen to some Prog and Post-Rock sounds.
